What makes me happy

Note: Entry inspired by Amarilys.

For me happiness does not come in the form of money or success, although many people tend to view me as a materialistic person. Happiness comes in thoughts that inspire us and remind us of life’s possibilities. It renews us, lightens our problems and keeps our dreams alive. It’s the little things in life that makes me happy.

1. My Pooh (yes I call him that now ;-) )

2. Heavy showers of rain

3. The innocent look on a baby face

4. Loving someone and being loved in return

5. Beautiful sunsets

6. Aroma of coffee

7. The scent of a guy, especially when the scent lingers on me

8. Putting a smile on someone’s face

9. The ocean and the sound of the waves crashing on the shore

10. Spending time with my family

Five things I miss from my childhood

1. My Grandad.
This is certainly one aspect of my childhood I truly miss. He passed away when I was 5 years of age and since then I’ve had many ‘What IF’s’ questions on my mind. If only I had spent more time with him…

2. Being carefree.
I didn’t have a care in the world when I was a child. I miss the feeling of not having to worry about anything or being responsible for any given situation. I didn’t have to worry about walking on the streets, wondering if I’m going to be mugged anytime soon. The world has certainly changed a lot in 10 years.

3. Saturday Morning Cartoons.
Nothing else seemed to matter on Saturday mornings besides the much talked about cartoons on television. I was usually up by 8AM to see the usual line-up of cartoons (Recess, Doug, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch –Animated Series) to name a few. There was one show in particular called Dinosaurs. I don’t know how many of you remembered that one. I’ve always had an avid fascination for dinosaurs, except now that fascination have been changed to giraffes.

4. Childhood friends.
These were the friends that stood by me through the ups and downs. And you know what? There were no such things as drama. The memories shared with them are irreplaceable. We would spend our free time playing with the Barbie dolls and the usual dress up games. Yes, we were girlie girls and still are. Sadly, I haven’t spent time with these kids in ages but we still keep contact.

5. The Ocean.
The beach was seen in a different light as a child. I remember going there early hours in the morning and playing in the sand. Building huge sandcastles and catching the little fishies in the water were part of my day there. My mother found it quite difficult keep me out of the water.
